Las Vegas Tragedy
United Way of Hastings extends its thoughts and prayers to the victims, those injured, and their families from the senseless tragedy in Las Vegas.

Our friends at United Way of Southern Nevada are busy helping their community the best way they can. As of yesterday, Southern Nevada made the decision to forego starting a relief fund. Instead, they believe their best role at this time is one of community convening, healing, and recovery. If you are interested in donating, there is a Clark County Commission Chair's assistance fund set up at https://www.gofundme.com/dr2ks2-las-vegas-victims-fund. You can also help by donating blood, visit www.redcross.org for details.

Our nation has suffered challenging circumstances over the past few weeks and now recently in Las Vegas. Please continue to keep individuals and communities that may be suffering in your thoughts, and take pause to LIVE UNITED:
Underneath everything we are, underneath everything we do, we are all people connected, interdependent, united. And when we reach out a hand to one, we influence the condition of all. That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED.

Hurricane Maria Relief Fund
After Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and now Hurricane Maria in the Caribbean, United Ways continue to be the hub for communication and relief efforts when our communities are in crisis. Update from United Way Worldwide September 25: In the Dominican Republic, Hurricane Maria has left thousands of people displaced and has cut off 25 communities, with more than 113 out of service. Flooding is widespread. Our partners in the Dominican Republic are working directly with the local government, community organizations and other organizations such as the church, neighborhood councils, foundations, etc. to address local needs. While communication in Puerto Rico still remains a challenge we remain committed to recovery efforts. We are working closely with corporate partners and local United Ways on bringing resources to those in Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic and other areas in the Caribbean hit by Hurricanes Irma and Maria. More information will be provided once it becomes available.

Hurricane Irma Relief Fund
The work United Ways does is not always visible, like being the hub for communication and relief efforts when our communities are in crisis. Thank you for the donations at UWH's Campaign Kickoff for Hurricane Harvey recovery - 100% of those funds have been sent directly to the United Way of Houston. For the second week in a row, United Ways are working hard in the communities affected by Hurricane Irma. If you would like to donate to those affected, text IRMA to 50503. Details at www.unitedway.org/irma.

Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund
Because of the devastating and widespread flooding already seen in the Greater Houston area from Hurricane Harvey, United Way of Greater Houston has established a Flood Relief Fund to help with the recovery needs of those most impacted. All monies raised by United Way’s Flood Relief Fund will be used to help with both immediate, basic needs and long-term recovery services such as case management and minor home repair.
