In 2019, UWH partnered with Communities in Schools (CIS) – Twin Cities to work directly inside Hastings schools, building relationships that empower students to succeed inside and outside the classroom.

The Model
CIS Twin Cities model brings community resources, with the help of UWH, into the Hastings schools to empower success for all students by removing barriers for vulnerable students and families.
Hastings High School Site Coordinator
Kel O’Leary works with students at the high school and their families. In Spring 2020, Kel worked with nearly 25 Hastings High School 9th & 10th graders failing in 1 or more courses who improved their grades and passed classes. All while distance learning during the pandemic.
